1747年，我国的伞传入英国，成为英国第一把伞。当时有一个英国人到中国旅行，看到我国人民张着油纸伞在雨中行走，认为很适用方便，就买了一把使用，回国时便把它带回了英国，然后又造了一把形状似香菇的丝布伞用之，不久遍布了全英国。今天雨伞已在世界各地广泛使用了。
今天，雨伞是我国人民，尤其是南方人民必备之物，人们外出总要带着雨伞，既可遮雨又可遮阳光，一举两得。折叠伞更是携带方便。
