11月14日，流行音樂之王Michael Jackson到位於英國倫敦的《吉尼斯世界記錄》總部接受表彰。
Jackson其實在到來倫敦之前就與《吉尼斯世界記錄》取得了聯系，稱自己可以過來收攬他該獲得的一系列證書。《吉尼斯世界記錄》欣然同意並作出安排。
《吉尼斯世界記錄》今天總共給他頒發了八張世界記錄認證書。其中主要包括：世界史上最暢銷的專輯——《Thriller》。據《吉尼斯世界記錄》的認證書上稱：該專輯已在全球賣出了超過1.04億張。在美國《Billboard》音樂排行榜的前十名內連續停留了80周。這比起之前的那些銷量4000萬到6000萬張不等的說法，這是獲得認證的最新統計數據。
Michael Jackson是第一個在美國以外的地區賣出一億張專輯的藝術家。
